I was mainly inspired by there 2012 Summer campaign with the block blue background and complimentary colours used within the makeup and styling using these colours not only creates a fun, playful, eye catching, sexy summer time look to the advert but exuberates the same qualities within the brands ethos.
As this was my initial inspiration point i have began looking that this block block background and instantly came to mind a distressed wall in spain with fusha roses growing up the side of it, a memory from my old grandma's villa in spain i used this as a starting point and have collected some images from my pintrest board- https://uk.pinterest.com/milliejohns/springsummer-15-nars/.
I love the colours within these images, the blue colour to me inspires me and strongly reminds me of that summer feel, the distressed wall/table with the coconuts on i am particularly drawn in by as although its similar to past NARS campaign's it give the image more depth by it not being a completely block colour.

Face Charts:
Duo Face Charts:
I have photographed together the face charts that i feel would work well with two models in the shot, i really think that the contrasting and complimenting colours within each of the makeup looks work well, also the bright bold colours would work very successfully against the bright blue wall/background.
Soft Blue eye & Bold Yellow- {FINAL FACE CHARTS}
Soft Orange & Bold Yellow
S/S15 Influence- Dior
The s/s15 show for Dior featured this graphic pastel liner, i love the effect of this simple but creative look as its a fun, quirky take on a classic makeup look further using colour is very relatable to the brand NARS.
Experimentation
I decided to create the 4 looks that i like the best (duo face charts) so i can see how the products work and what's the most effective colours on the face.
Yellow Liner
The yellow liner is the one look that i am certain i will use, here i have mixed MAC lip mix in yellow and white and applied with a thin brush, i think that the simplicity of the look is what makes it effective.
Peach Shadow
Bare Minerals shadow applied with a soft brush all over the lid.
I have applied the different looks onto the same model so i can visualise the two different looks next to one another better. I think these colours look effective together although with the bright fusha lip and blue background i think there may be too many colours within one image.
Blue Shadow
I think that this is more successful thinking about the rest of the composition in relation to the makeup, colour is a big part of these final images but i don't want to go over board.
Lip With Eye
I wanted to experiment with the lip and eye colours together, i think that the colour tones work well together and in against one another also.
After discussion with my tutor i will be using the blue eye look with the yellow, this is more effective and interesting further the blue will work monochromatically with the back ground and allow the yellow to contrast more.
Hair
I felt that when doing the face charts the hair look needed to be something structured and interesting to work with the background and makeup to portray the pop art style colour idea within the makeup.
I was very inspired by the look show cased by Guido Palau for Marc by Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2015 this was then a statement look seen on Rita Ora on the TV show 'The Voice'. I wanted to take this idea a variation on a mohwak style, its a style thats a little edgier by can still encompase a done sleek style that is often seen in the NARS advertisement campaigns. I have created a mood board of a few variations on a mohwak style i will be looking at creating, as i have two models i want each look to work directly with there look and the makeup style- so will have two different hair ideas steaming from this idea.

Models
Below are my two chosen models i have chosen them as the are good to show the contrast within the looks Lauren on the left has very olive skin tone and a lighter brown hair that would work perfectly against the yellow and light pink lip were as poppy (right) is fair with blonde hair that i feel would contrast well against the darker lip and soft bright blue eye further her hair will brighten the look against the background.
After having chosen my models and selected the looks i feel would work best on them i now will work on designing hair looks that further compliment the over all look. (both models have medium volume, shoulder length hair) This will work well with any mohawk style as i wanted the look to keep close and tucked at the nape of the neck.
Hair Development
I have created some collage images to develop my ideas onto the models and with the makeup looks. I want the styles to be sleek but edgy. I have further designed them on the colour background i will be using and roughly drawn on the makeup looks so a can get a feel for the overall look.
Model 1:
This first design will be on Lauren, with the yellow liner flick and pale pink lip tone- The style is a crimped dutch braid style plait on top of the head down the centre and tuck under at the bottom to keep it in the mohwak style. I will further adjust the plait after to make it into a larger loop style.
Model 2:
This style i wanted to be a little more interesting as the makeup is more subtle with a soft blue eye. I have chosen a bubble style using a crimped technique to add texture to the style and bubble sections tucked under at the end again to create a tight to the nape look.
I did a quick sketch to have an idea what the looks would look like together and i think they work very well, they are similar enough to compliment each other using mirroring textures on both the side and middle but differ to add interest. I think these will work successfully within my final composition, with the makeup and the background idea.
Hair Experimentation
When i created these styles on the doll i found that due to the crimping the style was too thick to tuck under at the nape of the neck, i there fore have decided that i will carry on the bubble pony tail style on both of the styles.
Hair Charts
Style 1: Crimped dutch braid into, bubble pony tail.
Style 2: Crimped bubble pony tail.
Equipment/Products:
-crimpers
-Hairspray
-clear hair ties
-bun pins
-pin tail comb
-soft brush
-section clips
Step 1:
Crimp full head of both models. Style 1- dutch braid down the centre of the head and tie at the bottom tie again to finish of the style into the bubble pony style.
Step 2:
Style 2- section the top and tie into place repeat this again also tie in the previous section by using the pin tail comb to pull up the bubble part repeat this the whole way down.
Styling
The styling within many of the NARS campaigns is very well executed and always works complementing the makeup, hair and background as you can see with the images initially posted as my starting point for this shoot. I want to follow this through as i feel that it will create that well done feel that NARS advertisements always have and do so well.
I do want the styling to compliment the overall look but also be kept simple as the rest of the look is very striking. I initially was inspired by the use of cross over styling pieces within many of the NARS ad campaigns they always have an interesting piece to the neck line and think about this in depth.
Inspired by this i was initially thinking a cross over the straps at the front of a soft cami in a light pastel tone (blue and green) to not detract from the makeup too much as i feel if i use more block bold colours it will be too much. I will go into town to look at the colours if not i will just get a cream or white tone.
After looking at various tones of cami's in the shops i have decided that i don't want the colour of the tops to distract from the background and main pop of colour in the makeup. I have decided to have the models with a bare neck area to really be able to focus on the key contrast of colour with both the makeup and background.
Final Shoot
{NARS- SPRING/SUMMER15}
This was one of my favourite shoots to work on, working with two models allowed me to explore more within the looks and experiment with colour something i feel i am strong with much like NARS. I found i had to be organised as i didn't want any of the models waiting around, i had to work relatively quickly to avoid this happening. The final photographs are very successful, the colours all work well in contrasting yet complimenting one another within the composition. I found the the bubble pony tail style on Hayley (first model pictured) work a lot more successfully in the photographs. I felt the dutch braid worked well in person but in comparison and in the images (models next to one another) it didn't look as structurally powerful, it looked too flat to the head, further more as the model was shorter and the hair height of the bubble plait was taller this created a height difference in the profile shots that i felt wasn't as effective at the face on images were the photographer stood at an angle to give the perception of the same height. I felt the makeup worked the strongest in think shoot i loved the back ground colour i feel it only complimented the makeup giving a strong base for the colours in the look to work off. The Spring Summer 15 shoot works for the brand NARS as not only it explores colour in a strong sense it evokes a playful feel within the makeup exploring the idea that the everyday woman that shops at NARS can were these shades too and look and feel confident.
