NARS Day Look

After my last post on NARS day look research i wanted to pull together all the elements i wanted to include in the look: the sheer foundation dewy skin texture, bronze peachy tone contour on cheeks, brushed out natural brows and the statement bold red orange tone lip. The orange red tone of the lip is something i want to make really bold and bright inspired by the tones within my mood board. I have further added images of hair inspiration for the day look i want to have a beach, tousled wave in the hair, i want it to look relaxed and effortless.

S/S15 Catwalk influence- Tanya Taylor
This look from s/s15 show Tanya Taylor created by Nars is a take on a fresh, bold and crisp makeup look. I love the fresh feel the the skin the dewy texture and minimal colour used in the skin allows the bold lip to stand out, this is a key inspiration point for my day look.

Initial Hair Chart 

Test Shoot 

These are the images from the test shoot, i had to do it on myself as my partner couldn't make the session. The dewiness in the skin photographed really well and was probably my favourite element within the look, i also love the 'Orgasm' NARS blush with the orange red lip tone although the colours on the cheeks didn't show up as strongly as applied. I do feel that the look is very catwalk i feel that for a NARS advertisement there would be more of a stand out element within the look even if it is a day time style such as something a little more on the eye area for example or make the lip either a bright orange tone with hint of red than this tone is more a shade of red. I further feel that the inconclusivity within the images is further due to the hair and styling which was not done for the makeup test shoot. 

I want to develop this look further and do test shoots with both hair makeup and set/styling involved so i can get a better idea of how the final images will turn out.

CRIT

In class we took part in a critical analysis of our test shoot images, my feedback was all very positive. 

-lip works well with the texture and colour for day time

-skin dewiness is very well done 

-eye era dose not need any more makeup as this would look too evening.

-sporty feel to the look with the ponytail 

-casual, effortless and wearable for the NARS customer 

-brushed out brows works nicely with the rest of the look.

I was very please with my feedback and felt it was very constructive, having had the feedback that the eye area works with the amount of eye makeup on has made me re think my previous idea of adding slightly more to this area. I would like to test out the look on my model along with the hair to get a better idea what the final images would look like. 

Hair 

After the crit i had initially thought that the look needed more of a hair style and as shown in my initial mood board i had envisioned a beach wave relaxed style,  but my feedback from my crit was that the hair in a slick back pony worked very well with the look and gave it a Sporty feel making the look more day time too. I wanted to play with the idea of a sleek, sporty pony.

I love that within these images the pony tails are very structured even if it is just a straight pony it has a clean sleek shape to it. I would like to experiment with the idea of adding a shape into the pony tail to create and interesting structure.

Final Hair Chart

Step 1:
Blow dry the hair into a straight sleek style, using mouse in the top begin to brush back into a pony tail tie securely and hair spray.
Step 2:
using the straighteners curl the bottom part of the style all in the same direction to the left. taking a small section of hair from underneath the pony tail wrap around the hair tie and bun pin into place.

Background & Lighting  
I want to be in keeping with the clean fresh feel to the images- shooting on a possible white background with a soft lighting, using day lighting i feel would give that fresh feel that i am after.

Styling 
When i had though of the back ground and the hair i envisioned a sport feel white top such as the one thats seen in the mood board with that hole like pattern. I thought of Narciso Rodriguez Fall 2015 RTW Runway look i saw on Vogue this look would be perfect the roll neck would eventuate the high sleek pony tail and the sheer panels give that sporty feel. Obviously i couldn't get this but i will look for a similar idea white turtle neck with a sheer aspect. I feel this will further make the orange of the lip pop and be the main focus. 

Model 
My models i have chosen has she has the right features for the look i wanted the large lips and structured cheek bones- her hair is further very thick and long witch will work with the pony tail style.

Final Images

{NARS- DAY LOOK}

Although at the begging i was unsure this look would be strong enough for a NARS advertisement, following the advise i was given at the crit from the test shoot. I feel the final look worked very well, The model was a strong point in these images, NARS often depicting models with interesting faces to enhance the makeup. The model i feel elevated the look into an advertisement i could see on NARS counters and billboards. The sleek sporty feel is the key element in these images and something i feel worked well, the curl in the end of the pony tail creates a more feminine element mirroring that of the orange, red tone of the lip and dewy blushed skin. NARS is all about empowering women and being playful and experimentative within the way they were there makeup, the tone of the lip i feel expressed this, a hint of red says confident yet the orange evokes more of a feminine, spring, fresh feel this is my favourite part of the look and defiantly the feature point of the final images.
